Coming soon to Aratoi: Hidden Faces, Hidden Gems

The Club’s 2014 Exhibition will run in the Wesley Wing at Aratoi from August 22 to September 21st.

Members submitted a total of 72 wonderful images.  Inevitably some very good photographs were not going to make the final cut for printing and hanging.

Thanks to Michele Usher (WPS), Alice Hutchison (Director, Aratoi), Jan Abernethy,  and Richard Lambert for their time and effort in helping to select the  photographs to feature in the exhibition.

Alice had predicted that a title would emerge as we considered the images.  And so it turned out.  The Exhibition has been entitled “Hidden Faces, Hidden Gems”.   The publicity shot (“Hidden Face” above), by Nik Player,  featured in our Monochrome Competition, back in March.

At this stage the selected images are to be printed, mounted and framed.  At the same time we are working on the best order/arrangement to hang the pictures.

The opening of the exhibition will be at Aratoi, early evening on Friday August 22.  Keep this date clear in your diaries.

Cheers

Tim

Grant Sheehan

A reminder to members that next month’s meeting is to feature a presentation by well-known Wellington photographer and prolific author, Grant Sheehan.

Grant recently published a fantastic book of black-and-white photography called Ghosts in the Landscape. Some of you may have seen the exhibition of the photographs, in Hedleys ArtSpace in Masterton, at the time the book was published.

Grant will talk about these photographs and show us other work from his portfolio.

You can read more about Grant’s work at his website here and on this page.
