Most monthly meetings feature a ‘competition’.
Competition, as such, is not really the idea of the club ‘competitions’.
Each of these events is themed, and members send in images before the meeting. The club arranges to have a guest ‘judge’ who provides expert commentary on the images. The main points of the exercise are
- for people to have a chance to share their photographs, and also to receive considered feedback on them; and thus …
- to learn how their photography might be improved.
The judges are asked to award ‘points’ for images as is the case in other camera clubs. Points are recorded and totalled by our competition secretary who presents trophies and cups on the basis of the points, at our annual awards dinner. As the awards dinner coincides with our Xmas function, a great time is guaranteed to all!
